Need to replace my outside temperature sensor
I searched all over but couldn't find a DIY for removing the lower center grille on a 2006 clk cab. On the web, there are some funky sites that say I have to remove the passenger side wheel well cover. The parts guy at a neaby MB dealer said I didn't have to remove anything in the wheel well... just pop it off from the front. I pulled the front of the lower grille all around its perimeter looking for any type of "give" so I don't snap anything off, but I can't seem to budge it. So far, there just doesn't seem to be the correct "how to" out there for removing the center piece. I'd love to avoid the dealership ream-o-rama if I could. The sensor was $27 and it has a simple plug receptacle at the backside...loks like something I could do in about 30 seconds if I could just get to it.
Can anyone help me with photos, desciptions, anything so that I can remove this center piece? Right now, it's blazing hot outside and since my temperature gauge is showing -3 degrees...the heat is pumping away sending me to a whole new level of "TOASTY".
Thanks!!!!

I think the easiest way is to take off the wheel well cover while the car is jacked up on one side in the front (passenger side). You could do it without jacking up the car but it's more of a pain in the butt. You just need to remove the front part of the cover not the whole thing. It's a 5 minute job.
You could try taking off the grill and other parts but I don't think that would be easier.
Take a look at this PDF.

Thanks...I did pull this pdf a couple of days ago, but was trying to get around pulling off the wheel well cover. I'm usually not timid about jumping in, I just never pulled those things off and wanted to avoid screwing it up. You sound pretty confident that it's an easy go, so I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow morning.
As for tonight, maybe I can make a pot of chili on the passengers floor during my drive home. I'll be using the world's most expensive crock pot...my car.
Thanks again.
