Exclamation HELP: Glovebox won't open.

So the last couple of months, I've been having problems closing my glovebox. I would have to slam it a little to get it to close. I think there was something loose with the inside latch.

This weekend it really wouldn't close even after slamming it pretty hard. I had to use a key to adjust the latch to get it to close which at the time thought was fixing the problem. Now it won't even open as if it were locked.

So now what? Has anyone had this issue? Is there a keyhole somewhere like my E-Class had?

I'm not sure if this is available on the coupe, but the cabriolet has a locking mechanism for the glove compartment tied to the door locks. If the doors are locked, so is the glove compartment. There is also a small lever at the top of the catch that can lock the glove compartment without locking the doors. If you slide this lever to the right, then close the glove compartment door, it will be locked until you press the unlock button on the SmartKey (the unlock button on the upper console will not do it).

If this doesn't work, you likely have a jammed latch, and you will just have to pry the door open, which will break the catch.

Thanks, Rodney. If it's at all possible, could you post a picture of where this small lever is or maybe explain in greater detail? Do I need any tools to get to it? I'm hoping this will be the solution.

The photo below shows the lock lever on the catch. If you have pressed the unlock button on the SmartKey and it didn't unlock, then that's not the problem.

Your latch is not working properly, I'm afraid the only way to get to it to fix it is to force it open, which will likely physically break the latch.
