Replacement Stereo
I have a 2009 MB CLK 550. I have the HK Stereo package and AMG package. I had an unfortunate incident happen recently. The vehicle went out of MB warranty on 6/15/13 and the car had 38,000 miles on it. My speakers went fuzzy and cut out, my COMAND unit was still functioning but I smelt an electronic burning smell from the trunk. First thinking I blew my speakers because I had no sound. Brought it in and they said the COMAND unit and AMP are both burnt out and worthless. They would not cover it under warranty. Come to find out my fiber optic wire could have melted as well. Long story short my extended warranty company will cover my COMAND unit replacement and AMP but no wires and if the wiring cause the issue then nothing is covered. All in all could be a $5000-$6000 job depending on labor time all the way to $10,000. I do not have a puck with bluetooth(which they quoted $3000 to install) Craziness, so at this point it only makes sense to install an aftermarket stereo in the vehicle. I believe my speakers are fine but need an in-dash radio that is compatble with steering wheel audio controls and an amp. I am curious as to weather or not there is a good in-dash reciever out there that will hook up to all the stock speakers, and what amp to get, what wiring will I need to run, what in-dash kit will I need ect. ect. Hopefully there are some pro's out there that can help me. I have installed after market stereo's in car's but never used anything stock always bypassed stock stuff. This was a long time ago so I don't know what kind of technologies are out there currently. Any assistance is appreciated...
