DIY: Key Battery Replacement
I was driving today and noticed that my dash informed me to replace the battery in my key.
Materials: New battery (CR2025 3v) and small blade.
Here are the directions:
Step 1. Pull the grey lever to the right and pull out the L shaped key.
Step 2.
Step 3. Turn the key to the back side and insert the Key into the left side.
This will press out the back key cover.
Step 4. Take a blade and pull out the battery.
Step 5. Install the new battery and replace the cover. Then reinsert the key.

my 2009 with Keyless Go is different:
BTW, I replaced with CR 2032 (a little thicker, but I crammed them in). Higher amperage but "convenience opening/closing" still doesn't work....

Eddie, the convenience open/close failure is likely a problem with the sensor in the door handle. A guy on the benzworld W203 forum fixed his:

thanks Rodney. that fix is insane!! I need a few more cups of coffee just to read it! in that thread you mention your RemoteKey; does that $250 item give you remote window control AND DVD while driving??

I don't think i does DVD, but it does give you better control over convenience open/close. I have the SmartTop version on my CLK, which is identical to RemoteKey except it includes operation of the soft top. Basically, these devices listen for RCL functions coming in via RF and then control the windows. Instead of having to point the SmartKey at the IR receiver and hold the buttons, you can just click it twice within RF range to raise and lower windows. Another feature is the ability to use the fog lights for DRLs instead of the low-beams.

The link says it does DVD:

Not sure I understand about DRL lights. I thought parking lights were the DRLs?

Oh, I see now that it says it has DVD unlock. I think that is an option - there used to be a regular version without that they sold for $199. If you activate DRLs using the MFD settings, the low-beam headlights are used for that. If you have halogens, then they are illuminated at about 60% power. if you have HIDs, then they are full power. With the RemoteKey (and SmartTop) controllers, you would disable the factory DRL function and then enable the fog lights as DRLs through its menu. That's what I did for my LED hockey stick DRLs that I replaced my fog lights with.
