Location of the vin on the Hood? (05 clk500)
I purchased my clk500 2005 sec hand , and i failed the chp inspection as they said that the hood vin is not there !
Is there a hidden place where is the vin maybe?
I notice that the hood that's on the car right now has no factory stickers!,and i don't see any numbers any where.
Any advice where to look will appreciate.
Thank you,

I don't understand that. Officially, the VIN only in three places - the Certification Label on the driver's side B pillar, on the dash (under the windshield galls, lower driver's side), and on the floor pan under the passenger seat. There are also a couple of other hidden locations, but AFAIK, it's not on the hood unless it was part of a dealer-installed anti-theft package. I checked my car (which actually came from California) and there is no VIN on the hood. There are three labels - a mini-datacard, and two dealing with engine and emissions, but no VIN.

Hmm, i see... i have other hood ,that has those 3 label like yours (no vin) ,but is not in good condition, and i got other hood that has no labels at all and is in good condition ,and i put this one with no labels and failed Chp test inspection ,but i am working and getting this straight out, with the people i purchased the hood.
Chp (California Highway Patrol) are really picky on paper work and where parts come from...
thanks,

You can buy those labels. They probably do not care about the datacard label, but they likely want the emissions labels. I am so glad that as backwards as Alabama is, we don't do these stupid inspections. Of course they are touted as being for "safety" and to "reduce emissions" but in reality, they are just extra sources of revenue for the governments and their "good buddies" who are licensed inspection stations.
