Just installed Black Quad projector + wheels refinish
Hi guys,
Had the headlights sitting since i purchased my clk350 over a year ago knowing i would get a 550. just installed and they are mighty simple to install.
here are some quick shots.

now, i purchased a set of Sonc Tuning sc7 a while back, i was sponsored a set and before i could get a photoshoot on my clk350 i damaged 2 of the rims and it was cold so i decided to take care of that now. still debating on keeping them or selling/trading them.
they were silver to begin with..brand new, like a kid during xmas

THanks Louie, i used the link you posted a while back on how to remove the bumper.
its a very easy job, i would suggest to take off the whole bumper, because it will make it much easier. i would suggest that if you are doing the headlights, go ahead and install the front lip while you have the bumper off.

Looks good! Nice paint job. Sonic Tuning is great, I had ST160 on my SLK a few years ago with no problems.
Might I suggest a GoMiniGo tow hook license plate? I have one installed on my car.

^thanks disco!
i actually have the wheels on craigs list. thinking about getting the TSW Mirabeau. but first im deciding on getting the Tein SS coilovers or Just H&R springs. Dont know if i want to deal with the headache of coilovers (the problem of rubbing) or just get H&R springs.
I dont want to go too low, just nice enough to snap pics and get better handling and get rid of that 4X4 gap.
a member here has the tein ss coilovers for sale with 15kmiles on it. so ill think about it.

Hey,
Those rims look great! Tried to find them on craigslist.org and could not - have you sold them?
Second, I noticed that you said that you looked at the 350 as a temporary ride until you got a 550. Since I am looking at both a 350 and a 550 locally I am curious as to why you decided to stay with your 350.

I missed out on the two CLK550's that were close to my location. I am looking hard at a 2008 CLK350 droptop that is about 20 miles away. Will be heading to dealership on Wednesday since they are closed for Labor Day.

yea i would love a drop top!!!!!!
where are you located?
and dealership closed for laborday?? things like that do not make sense to me from a business perspective. i understand closing early considering most people go shopping on days like weekends and other days off.
oh well, keep us updated on your car search and trust me, its one fun car!

I am in St Louis and the dealership is over the river in Illinois. Talked to the sales guy yesterday to let him know I would not be out and he told me that most of the IL dealerships in the O'Fallon area would be closed for Labor Day. I know, it did not make much sense to me either. But it does let me do research and find other comparible 350's to compare price points for negoitiating.
There is a 2007 CLK63 with 67k in Virden (about an hour away), silver over black but the maintenance on the AMG models is worrisome. Could work on my Porsches but MB's are a whole new world for me.

Maintenance on an AMG is not "different" than on even the least expensive C-Class, but the parts can be more expensive. Mainly, it's tires and brakes. Things like oil changes, brake fluid, transmission service, spark plugs, etc. are all the same.

i would take the 63 in a heart beat. its a whole other monster. '
take to dealership to do scheduled service (if you do not know how to change the oil and such)
do the rotors and pads your self. much cheaper than the dealer.
to save some bucks look for sales on the motor oil on amazon and the local ads.
best of luck

I can amd will probably do oil changes and brakes. But every ESP conpany I have researched will not cover AMG's, IIRC even MB will not do an ELW on them. I might do the drive to Virden, they are asking $33000+, which is about $4k over fair market by the site that I found it on estimator. I am just looking for a softer ride to keep the wife happy - appearantly the bilstein/h&r suspension on my 993 is too harsh a ride for her - perfect for playing around the track or auto-x though.

get some bilstein pss9, thats what i want but out of budget. from what people say they maintain stock ride quality on the softest settings and great for track on the harder settings.
personally if i was working full time and was not in school i would buy the 63.
btw. love my 550, people think its slow... some dude in a 2002 nsx got spanked by me untill i slowed down.
if you want a drop and not a clk63 get the 06 clk55, it has bbk and its the 55 engine with a lot of potential.
if you are fine with a coupe get the 05 clk55.
i was in the market of a clk55 but my credit union will only finance cars that are no more than 5 years old.
the clk55 (year 05 and 06) share the same breaks as the clk63, i believe the rotor is just a little bit smaller.
honestly, do not rush this process, just keep searching cars.com and ebay untill you find the car you want. heck even if its on the other side of the states, its better to find a car you want and pay 500-2k shipping and be happy.

MBZ most certainly did provide extended warranties on AMG vehicles - they treated them no differently than any other MBZ. And I would be suspect of any aftermarket warranty company that refuses to write a policy for an AMG. I can understand them not writing for exotic cars like Ferrari or highly customized vehicles like a Roush Mustang, but like I said, other than bigger brakes, beefier anti-sway bars, and a higher performance engine, AMG cars are just liek every other MBZ.
