Question Question on Lowering

Hello, I'm looking to lower my car with H&R Springs. I want to lower the car so it looks evenly lowered on the fronts and the rear. Do I need to get anything other than springs? I have stock everything right now, including the stock 17" rims with the AMG appearance package. Would 0.75" be enough to make it look nice without making it look to "low rider"? Or should I lower the fronts more than the rears or vice versa? Thanks!!

I have the H&R springs with the factory 17s. I'll try to post pics when I get back home from this business trip. You'll like the look of it!

I did hr springs on my 2004 clk55. I installed #4 pads on rear springs per what I read here.

Man that's amazing. Are there any "cons" to lowering it, since it is already a low car? Also, what's the part # for the springs? Thanks!

Thanks Louie, I'll look into the parts. Are there any problems with going over speed bumps, potholes, etc.?

I have 18" wheels but I have about 1/2" of muffler lower than the underbody panel, and a part of my exhaust pipe is about an inch lower (this low point is at the axle). And I have a front lip spoiler which makes the bumber an inch lower to the ground.

I just have to be careful. I have had no problem with speed bumps, even the elongated ones. I've practiced using my outside mirror housing as a guage point (align with an imaginary line parallel to the bumper) to not get too close to those concrete parking stops. I live on a hill and have to back out the drive onto the street. Going out forward causes the spoiler to scrap slightly.

I doubt that you will encounter a hole in the road that would be deep enough and long enough to cause any scraps. I guess if you do, it would not be considered a "pothole"; probably a "bathtub" hole.

Though your height will be more, you should avoid straddling protruding objects, like the gas station in-ground fill points and those long slopped exit/entry points used at many underground parking garages. These may cause you to just scrap a bit, but w/o any real damage, unless you're speeding through a gas station or in/out of the parking garage. Also avoid straddling fresh road kill .

Thanks Fatz. With the Exhaust that I want to put on that you have helped me with, I noticed that the roll bars are in the way of where the passenger pipe would go. Is this the point that you're talking about that is too low for your car? Also, would I have to do modding to get the pipe to fit?

kb24forlife24, I posted a reply regarding the pipe routing to the quad thread since my reply was so long and exhaust related.
