Best aftermarket NAV?
I think my nav drive has lived it's life and rather than replace with a used one with 9 year old technology I am thinking that aftermarket is probably a better choice. I see mostly Dynavin on ebay and I was wondering if anyone has experience with these or any other basically plug&play units?

Im on the same page as you and have been doing my research for several months now. Problem is (for me) is the software.. I've read horror stories on it not working for very long and being very slow. On Another note I've read some good reviews as louder than stock and very clear Image. There are several different updates and now there are other CLONE Dynavin "look A-like" head units. So you could actually end u getting a clone of a clone if not careful.

The dynavin works fine after you set it up properly and understand a few things. I've been running it for a while now and am perfectly happy with it. You need some Android experience to get it to run smoothly and 100% the way you want it.
Sygic as nav software is much better than anything you've seen on OEM systems haha.
I would stay away from generic plug and play Chinese units as they are crap....for many different reasons.

Idk if you use android or ios, so I will give you both examples.
1) ios example: pretty much similar to jailbreak.
2) android. Its similar to jailbreak but much better. When you install a custom rom, someone has to take the stock software and rewrite it to be better and more efficient in many ways such as cpu speed and rendering along with software. Im pretty sure you can install apps from the android market. Just do a search for that custom rom on google

I got a new unit from Amazon and love it. Looks stock but with all the modern bells and whistles. It took about 2 hours to put it in but I am no pro so might even go in faster if you know what you're doing.

I run Dynavin unit in my 2003 CLKK320 (had Bose junk so it too much more effort to replace). I'm very happy with the unit and it looks great in the car with its OEM look.
PM me if interested as I happen to have a unit available for a good price and can give you good install info.
