Hey Guys,

I have a 2008 CLK 350, when I plugged in my iPOD this morning, something happened to the COMAND system, it just restarted. After it restarted, my iPOD was no longer recognized. Also, the navigation system stopped working, I can see the map displayed on the screen. Audio/Navigation does not work in the instrument cluster, all I see is '----'. The volume button on the steering wheel also stopped working. The lights on the COMAND unit also went out. Also, when i turn off the car now, the COMAND unit stays on, I have to manually power it off.

Any idea on what could be wrong with the car, or how I should diagnose this?

It could be something simple like a loose wire on the back of the COMAND (likely a CAN bus wire), or it could be an internal failure in the COMAND unit. If you are capable of removing the COMAND unit yourself, I'd try that first, checking the wiring harnesses.
