Quad Exhaust

I was looking to upgrade my Clk 350 single exhaust to a quad exhaust. Ive been doing research for a couple days now and haven't came up with much. CKS exhaust is the only one I see that is reasonable, but I don't know anything about them. Are there any other companies that will fit my car?

I looked at CKS about a year ago. Asked for input and there was only one reply from someone who had installed. That member is in Europe. I ended up doing a custom. There are 2-3 others currently getting parts for custom dual setups.

If youhaven't already, you can check the thread "planning-go-quad-exhaust" - from there you can search the names of others who have modded their exhaust and reseached other options.

Check out my thread "Planning to go quad exhuast!" Don't go to a CKS or something because they will charge you through the roof. Do a custom exhaust. I am very close to doing mine, just haven't had the time. Right now I deleted the muffler and really like the sound

It depends on what kind of sound you want. Do you want loud, deep bass, or just a little louder than what you have?

Ok then first delete the resonator. It's a "mini muffler" in the middle of the car. It's about 8 pounds and should make the car sound a little "meaner" If you don't like that then put that back on and remove the muffler. I currently have the muffler off on my CLK500 and it sounds pretty loud especially on cold starts. Look up some videos on YouTube to get an idea for the exhaust. If you like that then simply go to a muffler shop and have them connect another pipe to the right side of the bumper. Also, get some nice AMG tips. Eurotech is having a sale right now where you can get C63-style replicas for $250, very nice deal.

Say I want to build a system such as http://s120.photobucket.com/user/car...EC209.jpg.html, what would I need for the muffler part. It is a single in 3 out. Im not really experienced with mufflers but I don't know I should do if I want to buy my own parts for this conversion.

Ya if you delete the muffler they will just install a pipe and your tips. They will mimic the right side with that as well.

With deletion of my single muffler and routing of the right side, will this be the most cost efficient way to replicate a quad exhaust look?

I believe so. It's WAY cheaper than getting an Eisenmann or CKS exhaust!

Ok thanks a bunch. Ill keep things updated. I like the sound of the deleted muffler and the price maybe much cheaper.

If you're going with a single to dual/quad setup, I recommend you look at Kevwoods' thread. It is much like the CKS setup you looked into.

Listening to and watching youtube postings is a good way to formulate a plan.

There have been several "true" dual setups (manifold to tips separate tubing) done by folks on this forum, including me. Look at those threads and listen to sound clips that may accompany them.

I just learned about the exhaust cut out system. Does anybody know anything about that?
