2003 CLK320
2003 CLK320 Trunk / Convertible issue

Hello all,

I have a 2003 CLK320 as mentioned and am having an issue with getting my trunk open.

When the top is up and locked my trunk will not open. ( will not open by the switch or manually with the key ) The convertible switch will blink slowly.

I can put the top down and the switch light goes off and i can open the trunk.

When i am putting the top down of course the normal things happen and when the cover closes ( the car piece that opens and closes where the top is stored ) i hear the chime twice.

I am am putting the top up and the cover closes it does not chime.

I have to believe that its the sensor or something at the spot where the back of the convertible top latches to the cover that is creating the problem but i don't know why it works when the top goes down but doesn't work when the top goes up.

Any ideas / suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Jeff

W208 or W209 CLK320?

Jeff, welcome to the W209 forum!

Where are you located?

I assume from your userID that you are in Florida. For US models, the W209 CLK was introduced with model year 2004, while it was sold in other countries as model year 2003. W209 releases and locks the top in the front when you use the convertible top button, whereas you have to unlock the front of the top manually in the W208 and lift it up a few inches before the hydraulic system will take over. Do you have a W208 or a W209 CLK320?

2003 CLK320
2003 CLK320 - W208 - Central Florida ( North of Orlando by about 15 minutes )

All of this happens after i have released the front latch.

The pump is good, the fluid is full.

Thanks,

Thanks for the clarification. You are in the W209 forum here. Please re-post in the W208 forum, and you will find folks coming to the rescue pretty quickly.
