Opinions on Rear Spoiler for CLK320
My high school aged son drives a 2005 CLK320 cabriolet in pewter silver exterior and stone interior. It has 75K miles on it and looks pretty immaculate and completely stock (even the tires are oem). And the car isn't debadged or falsely badged! The car looks precisely like this:
I'm trying my best to talk him into leaving his car stock, and that it's not worth spending a whole lot of money and effort on this car since it's a base model, and not even a 350. The cabriolet isn't exactly a great handling car either. It's a cruiser.
It makes a whole lot more sense (and cheaper?) to me to just buy a CLK55.
Anyway, the choices are: (1) do nothing, (2) rear painted spoiler, or (3) rear carbon spoiler. What's your opinion?

I personally would vote against doing a carbon fiber rear spoiler consider there is absolutly nothing else done to the car. If I were you Id go with the color matched rear spoiler... I really think it would add a lot to the back end. Just to give you an idea here is what my white w209 looked liked with a matte black spoiler.

CLK550 $wagger,
I'm truly sorry what happenned to your car.
Another one of my family cars, a w211, got side swipped by a skidding bozo while parked in a gas station and pumping gas. I have to go through the drudgery of getting it repaired, even though the bozo's insurance will pay for everything.

Who's paying for this? If the kid has a job, and helps out around the house, and does well in school, then let him spend his money on it. I would personally prefer a body-colored spoiler, which will be more costly (though some eBay sellers have decent deals on pre-painted ones). Then again, if he is looking to mod the car for looks and performance, you are right - trade it on a CLK55 as that will be less expensive in the long run.
