Will a CLK55 take an SL55 engine?

Hi, im planning on dropping a 55k supercharged unit in my CLK55 W209, has anyone else done this? will the engine fit to my gearbox? will i need a new loom and ecu?

im guessing any unit will be the same, sl55 cl55 e55 - etc etc ???

For anybody who has been on this forum for a couple years or more there is nearly legendary thread on an engine swap, although not exactly what you are doing . I forget the exact title - "Project clk..." something. Search thread titles with those words. Major issues with ECU communication, and my guess is it will never run again.

They use the same transmission and block so no problems there. As pointed out, the electronic nightmares are the issue. You could just buy an SL55. A C63 coupe would be most of the way there in terms of performance. At the end of the day, these projects are fun initially but they are a huge waste of money, take way too much time and the success rate is probably terrible. Hope you have another car and a lot of garage space.

I am sure there is an obvious answer but I am wondering why they didn't swap all the electronics over from the CLK engine onto the SL55 engine and remap it (dyno tune) for boost after changing out the fuel pump. People remove the SC clutch anyway so that isn't an ecu issue that needs addressing. Leave the intercooler pump on all the time the car is on....

Better question is why? If you are not happy with what you got, get something else instead of "frankensteining" it into something it's not. Unless you are into wasting time and money just to have something no one else has, then by all means...

my motivation for this project is complex, and possibly beyond the scope of this thread

All the best with your project. A lot of us have done or had something to do with these sorts of things before hence the less than positive responses. If you have the time, money and inclination I say go for it.

Do you have any parts already? I would try and use the clk55 electronics and ecu to make things as easy as possible. I don't know if it is able to be done but considering people put the kleemann superchargers on I don't see why not.

Sunil of motorwerks in Houston did this swap to a c class sedan years ago. He runs a speed shop.

Options:

Install sl55 blower on clk55 engine.
Install entire sl55 ecu
Install kleemann sc or renin tech
Or wait for the weistec sc to be sorted out for the na 5.5l peeps.

Like betrezra said, just add the kleemann supercharger or get the kompressor kit from an SL55 engine. The former makes the most sense.

I don't think any one makes a supercharger for the na 5.5l

NO LONGER ACTIVE
I thought I saw a recent thread where someone put an E55 engine in a W209. It did not sound too bad of a job. Of course you'll need SDS to recode several things.
