M-B 2003 CLK 500
SRS light on after seatbelt repair, 2003 CLK
I have a 2003 CLK 500. The driver's seat belt retractor broke. I replaced it with the exact part number but continue to get the SRS light and a message that restraint systems needs servicing (the same message I got initially when the retractor spring broke).
I was told that if you replace the seat belt unit the same part the SRS fault should clear itself. It has not.
I tried to clear the fault with a Snap-On diagnostic system but keep getting faults, SRS light, message.
My question is: Do I need to use the M-B Star system to clear the fault codes, because the Snap-On system can't, or is there an issue with the part I replaced, the wiring or the restraint system control unit?
Thank you in advance. Alfred

With the MB Stardiag you will be able to identify the component involved.
On my CLK 55 it was a wire on the passenger seat (weight sensor to des/activate the passenger airbag in case off childseat)

You need to read the codes from the SRS system to see what is wrong. I am not familiar witht he Snap-On code reader tools, but most all "generic" OBDII readers only access the TSU and not the specific MBZ systems (SRS, ESP, TCU, etc.). If it can't read codes from the SRS system, then it can't reset the fault, and most all SRS faults do not self-clear - they must be reset through the scanner.

[QUOTE=Tex5;5956803]My SRS code was not linked to seat belt retractor
thanks so the pics your showing me with the wires are the back of the seat or underneath?
