Is there a DIY or thread for....

...replacing the seal that goes round the windscreen and down the A pillar on a CLK convertible?

I have just ordered and new seal that goes up the A pillar, across the top of the windscreen and down the A pillar on the other side, and wondered if they just press fit in or if there is a "method!"!

Any help welcomed

Phil

You mean the piece on the A pillar that the front edge of the door glass goes in? If so, just start at the bottom and is just pulls out. It sort of snaps into the metal trim piece on the car. It can take a bit of fiddling to get all the edges into the tracks on the metal piece, and a plastic trim tool shaped like a popsicle stick helps, but it's not hard. I've never done the top section, but I don't thinks it hard either. What was wrong with yours?

Thanks for the reply.

On mine, on the passenger side, ones of the drains is so mishaped that its blocked. It looks like where the roof joins the top of the a pillar it has crushed it together over a long period time. I can see the water pooling there.

I have poked down the seal and drain tubes are not blocked, but the water cannot enter that hole.

I have attached a link to another thread with a picture (stolen from on another thread here) that shows what it should look like. I am referring to the top hole in the pic.

Last picture on the page.

Mine has folded over itself, blocking the hole.
