Scratch removal on Audio 20 screen
2009 CLK 350 with Audio 20.
Believe the car owner before me was a female (or male?) with long nails or something. Just replaced the steering wheel buttons because they were all scratched up and messed up too (not cheap!)
Anyway, the plastic(?) screen on my Audio 20 is all scratched up to - seem to be fairly light/medium and don't go to deep.
Is there a good compound/kit I can use to DIY remove the scratches from the clear screen?

Check this thread over on BW:

It seems someone has found a source for replacement lenses.

You can buy plastic polish at any auto parts store if these are not scratches you can actually catch your nail on. Or if you have some good paint compounds, put a dab on a cotton T shirt and give it a god rub and see what it does.

The problem with using plastic polish is that these screens seem to have a coating or laminated layer on them that bubbles up (that's what the guy in that thread I linked to was repairing). I am afraid that if you try any abrasive on it that you'll be stripping that coating/layer off and make things worse. it may be better to just replace it.

Try polishing compound with a microfiber cleaning cloth. It will remove light surface scratches but it won't stop or repair bubbling. Polishing compound is what the professionals use to remove oxidation from headlights.

Thanks for your help guys. I applied some plastic polish with a foam applicator and finished it off with a microfiber cloth. It actually looks much nicer but not perfect. Still a "swirling" effect similar to what's on my nice black paint in places
Hoping it doesn't bubble - but I have a feeling that might be a combination of chemicals and other elements as mentioned in that thread. Heat is a powerful thing - it warped the wood trim around my passenger window switch - shop said it was warped so badly had to order a replacement from Germany.
