For a clk 500 with an msrp of about 58k you will be around $830 paying only inception fees with MBCC (they are the most expensive) If you go with say Huntington Bank you be around $750 (these prices are with 6% tax incl'd and 15,000 miles per year for the SE US) MBCC makes life easier if you ever need MB to buy your car back (without enacting the lemon law) and another negative besides the higher payments is the $2400 early terimanation charge if you try to get out of the lease early on your own.

Wait, you can terminate your lease by paying a $2400 fee? I'm thinking of terminating my clk lease in favor of a Cayenne, but didn't know you could just terminate the lease. I thought the only ways were to have a third party assume the lease or buyout the lease which would leave me (and anyone else I would imagine) really really upside down.

Just thought I'd chime in here. I recently looked into getting out of my lease and getting something else. If your bank allows it, try to transfer the lease instead of terminating. Because even if you pay the termination penalty no problem, it goes on your credit history as a voluntary reposession.

I'd consider having a third person assume the lease, but that would leave me secondarily liable for the potential default of a person I don't know.

The $2400 is in addition to any negative equity (providing there is negative equity). You can opt to pay off the lease, they have buy outs, however most people will be upside down unless you got a steep discount on the car when you bought it and or it really is holding its value like when the clk 430 cabs were selling for 5-10k over sticker. BMW only charges around $400 for their termination fee. Lease transfers are a problem as many banks will still hold you responsible for payment until the lease is satisfied in full. If you lease and pay msrp with inception fees rolled in etc you'll be upside down for a long time...maybe for ever unless the car is selling well over msrp.

Yep, that's a big downside.

Seems like my Cayenne dream is no more. Not that driving a CLK is a bad thing!
