How does this come apart?
Hi Guys,
I am trying to change out the shift knob on my 2005 CLK. I could not locate one form a CLK so I had to get one from an E-Class and the base of the leather boot is a different shape.
How do I get the leather boot apart from the gear ***?
I have attached some pictures of the underside of the *** with the locking ring removed:

I answered this over on the benzworld forum - check the installation links for shift knobs over on formymercedes.com. They will give you some ideas on how to swap knobs.
