Crank position sensor on a 2006 CLK 500 cabriolet

Just wanted to vent,

My car has only been mine for a few weeks & not to long after I took it home I experience a "cut off" while driving and a few hard starts. Chk'd the error code, the infamous CPS code 0355.

Decided I was gonna do this one myself!

After a few hours burning my hands, calling the car, motor, & sensor a few names I finally got it. I didn't realize upon taking on the job that there was only enough space for a three year olds hands.

Thanks to all who posted up what they used b/c without this confidence, I would have probably given up and taken it to the dealer!

On the bright side though, found out that I have K&N filters on my ride. That one repair down, now I need to figure out how to lower it?!?!?

Thanks guys!

Yes, replacing the CPS on a V8 is not a fun job. Did you remove the MAF sensor? That makes access somewhat easier, thought still not "easy". As for lowering, I have no experience there, but I hear coilovers are the way to go.

Lowering can be done a few ways. Coilovers are the most expensive and might be a little firm. But they are the most adjustable. The cheapest is to install lowering springs with your stock shocks and struts. The 3rd way is to install lowering springs on new struts and install new rear shocks, with lowering springs in the rear.

Sorry - I must have missed it! Your CLK500 has an M113 engine - no worries about balance shaft problems on those. It's only the M272 (xx230, xx280, xx300, xx350) and M273 (xx470, xx550) engines.
