CLK320 Climate control problems

All of a sudden when I press either of the AUTO buttons on the climate control nothing happens. The defroster works and so does the rear one. Everything was working fine then all of a sudden neither are working. This is in a 2003 CLK320

Try the ACC test/reset - with the engine running, simultaneously press and hold the RECIRC and FRONT DEFOG button until their indicator lights begin to flash. Release the buttons, and allow the lights stop flashing (about 30 seconds). If they don't, then there is an error in the system and you'll need a proper diagnosis.

Appreciate the help, only problem is the RECIRC doesn't seem to be working either so when I press it and the front defog, the defroster comes on even though I'm pressing the two and holding. Might be time for a new climate control unit I'm guessing. That's a shame as car only has 140k miles on it.

Yes, it does sound like the control panel has gone bad. Check ebay - they seem to be plentiful there.

Has anyone out there ever replaced one? Maybe able to check youtube to see if I need anything special to remove it with etc...I think the radio for example you need a couple of keys in order to remove it.

No, nothing special. And you do not need "keys" to remove the radio - just a few Torx bolts hols it in (and the same for the ACC panel). Search the forum for instructions on removing the radio and you'll see how to remove the ACC panel. It has to comes off before the radio.
