more TPMS aggravation....
Hey, I haven't been on the boards for a while as my interst have been elsewhere. Nothing like some roadside assistance to motivate me back!
I got a flat tire last night - that's not a big surprise as I've probably had more flats than any three of you combined. Never like this though: The TPMS said my pressure was low, I pulled off the highway and used my compressor to take it from 22lbs to 38lbs in my front left tire. The TPMS sensor looked cracked. I got back on the highway, the TPMS warning came back, tire felt flat so I just continued through the cloverleaf and got off again. Went to top off the air again but the valve stem had fallen into the tire! Nothing there but a hole!
Since I was barely at the end of the offramp and dealing with the oncoming traffic both from the ramp and the local road I had exited on, I decided to call AAA (but only after finding out the hard way that MB Roadside Assistance is no longer free for me
Hard to believe but the tire was fine once I got it to my local neighborhood tire guy. He replaced the TPMS sensor/valve stem for $80, plus another on the other front tire which broke when he checked it. This car is 5 years old with 30,000 miles; the tires only have 14,000 miles on them. Happy to have spent only $160!

Sucks that the TPMS cracked with such low mileage.
But glad to see you're safe!
Quick side question: were the TPMS unit aftermarket? I always wondering if they were worth it to add onto the aging benz?
