Check out my thread in the w215 section

I’ve posted photos of the engine bay, and a lot of other stuff like some short videos of turbo noises but I haven’t posted finished photos of the trunk where the turbo is mounted

quite literally because it’s not entirely finished. I just got it together and running solid in the last couple of months. So in the near future I am working on perfecting everything, getting it presentable looking and maybe work on the paint to get some professional photos that the car deserves

Given the enormous complexity and eye-watering cost entailed in turbo-charging a CLK500 engine, I couldn't help but wonder whether comparable horsepower and performance gains might be achievable by simply upgrading to a bone stock CLK550.

One imagines that a quarter mile drag race pitting a DIY turbocharged CLK500 against a stock CLK550 would likely be so close as to require a photo finish in order to determine the winner, so unless one is in the racing profession, or the turbo-charger installation trade, I find it difficult to see the rationale for embarking on such a major mechanical undertaking as that entailed in turbo charging a CLK500, when a far less daunting path to more horsepower exists, by acquiring that stock CLK550, whose acceleration is already quite unnerving to this regular Joe driver.

these cars can be turbo’d for under $3,000 if you know what you’re doing. People used to claim you can’t get an extra 100 horsepower from a Mercedes without spending $10,000 which is untrue. It’s also fairly simple to swap in bigger m113 engines , maybe not as easy on the 2003+ cars but that’s just because I’ve never tried
