KW coilover install questions

I am thinking of installing V1 KW coilovers (already have them). The instructions have the adjustable perch for the rear springs on the bottom of the spring. I have seen other coilover types install it at the top of the spring. Does it matter which end of the spring they sit on?

Is the writeup for the w203 c-class applicable? mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/196922-diy-coilovers-tein.html I believe it is pretty much the same as the w209?

As far as adjustment goes, is it simply a case of measuring the guard to wheel centre and making sure it is the same side to side or is it more complicated than this? I only want to lower the back 5-10mm and the front maybe 15mm but I am hoping to improve handling overall not potentially make it worse.

Yes the adjuster preach sits at the bottom. And you just measure from ground up to the top of fender. Of course check your tire pressure make sure they are the same.

Thank you for that. Maybe thats why they recommend measuring from the middle of the wheel to the guard, eliminating any variation in tyre height.

For anyone looking at used coilovers- check to see the adjustment collars move before buying them. I didn't realize this but it seems seized collars is a somewhat common problem. There are probably heaps of other things to look for but this was my lesson learnt. I got them shipped to me knowing they didn't have the adjustment tool and then took a few weeks to get around to order one. I cleaned the threads with degreaser to get all the crud out and I can just turn them. I think I will PB blaster them each day for a week and hopefully that will be that.
