outside edges of front tyres wearing

Clk 270 cdi, 54 plate. Haven't had the car long and noticed the outside edges of my front tyres are wearing more than the rest of the tread. I run them at 35psi, any ideas?

How long are you talking about, and were the tires new when you got it? Also, are they wearing evenly on the inside and outside? And how much wear? What you describe is normal depending on how much wear you are talking about over how many miles. Normal turning wears the outer edges of front tires, but rears tend to wear nice and flat. That's is one of the main reasons to rotate tires, except on our cars we can't. Very low tire pressure can cause it as well, and you could also get your alignment checked. But if the wear is even inside and out, then camber is probably not your issue. Toe might be.

Well I've had her about 3 months and the outside edges weren't great to begin with. The inside edges are OK. I was just wondering if it was common. Because I'm gonna need to get new ones soon and don't want to have the same thing happen again.

And just to add a bit in case you have not noticed this - park your car with the steering wheel turned all the way left or right and look at your front tires. Not only are your wheels turned one direction, but they are tipped over on their side quite a bit - they are not straight up and down. This is a function of caster. Imagine forcing your car through thousands of turns with your wheels tipped like that and you can see why the front tires wear in a rounded over fashion while the rears remain flat.

If your are getting new tires, have the alignment checked right after you get them. A good investment and not expensive. If outside edge are worn most, it's probably toe.

Yep, check toe and camber. Wearing the inside edge is much more common so the alignment might be all over the place.
