do i need bump stops with the bilstein HDs?

i took my clk to a friend of mine and he installed the back ones ok, but the front struts, he said that the bump stop that comes in the box is too small. Anyone have any info on this? does the front have internal bump stops?

I just received my Bilstein B8 Sport shocks/struts today. I'd also like to know if you'd need them; my Eibach springs came with bump stops. What springs do you have?

I don't know for sure if you need different bump stops for the 500; I did not need anything other than what came in the boxes for my 550. I was replacing OE shocks and struts with Bilstein B8s. (I wasn't charged for any additional parts anyway, and I doubt the service shop I use would have forgotten to charge me ).

Alright that sounds good. I had a question on the Bilstein B8 struts which I received a few days ago. I don't know how to put it into words but the rubber part where the I'm guessing the bottom of the spring is installed I believe is secured with a type of glue (idk how to explain it). On one of my struts it's a pretty tight fit. On the other one it's kind of loose. Do you think it'll be a problem with the install or should I just leave it to the installer? I'm away from home right now but I will post pictures in a few days when I return home to better clarify the question.

I would just talk with the installer about the difference in the tightness between the two, have the installer look at what you received from Bilstein, and ask them if they have all that is needed for a clean install without more money from you.

If you're using a reputable shop, where they are not incline to do things to "make something fit", they can tell you in a second if you're good to go. My guess is, if you ordered the right set for your car from Blistein, they will install without any problems.

OK so I got the chance to take a few pictures of my Bilstein B8s. The first one is the one with no gap and the second has the gap that I'm talking about. It looks as if the metal itself is a little bent. Should I exchange it?

I do not recall seeing that discrepancy with mine. I would also think they should be exactly the same (since, I don't believe, they are not marked left vs right).

I would just call Bilstein, and perhaps send the pics you've taken once you make contact with them. I think they will just send you a replacement.

Was the shipping container damaged?
