CLK 320 (w209) vs BMW 530i (E60)
Hello guys,, I wanted to ask you guys,, Im going to buy a car this week,, and im still stuck on these 2 cars,, I test drove them both,, and I cant deside on one,, They both are nice, Can anyone give me some pros and cons on both vehicles, The only thing that stopping me from getting the BMW is the new body. As far as performance,, Bmw 530I takes the cake.
here are the specs on both cars
04 CLk 320 xenon, sunroof, nav, changer, msrp 50,032
04 530i sports pkg, premium pkg, xenon, msrp 55,430
Helpful opinions welcome!!!!!!!!

530i vs CLK 320
I was thinking the exact same thing. I was between the 530i and the CLK 320. It really depends on what you want. The 530 will have a little more room since it's a bigger car and it's a sedan. The CLK is definitely sleeker. Also, in about 6 months you will see a lot of 530s on the road. I still don't see that many CLKs. One difference is the 530s active steering. I'm not totally sold on that, though. I have a feeling there will be some people hitting curbs when they are getting off a highway because it's a little tricky to handle when you are slowing down quickly, especially if you aren't prepared for it.
I have decided to get a Brilliant Silver CLK 320 with Appearance Package, Lighting Package, Moonroof, CD player and heated seats. I'm debating getting the cooled seats, but I'm not sure if they are really needed. I'll be ordering it soon. I want to take delivery in April or May. I have to sell my 2001 BMW 330ci first.
I can't wait.
Good Luck in your decision

Price-wise maybe similar for those two cars depending on the options you have but I thought the 5 series would be more against to the E-Class whereas the CLK is more against the 3-series Couple or the up and coming 4-Series Couple that is due in the near future (I think the 6-Series Couple is targeted at the SL or even the CL).
Anyway, I was also debating on the 2 brands at first but it was between a 325ci or a CLK240. Obviously 325ci has more grunt and other gadgets but I ended up with the CLK for its prestige and also knowing the fact 325ci was going out of production in about 1 or 2 years time.
Hope that helps, good luck with your choice

I agree with Kaiju in terms of BMW E60 5 series competes with MB W211 E series.
Thou have not driven the CLK, will seriously consider it when I start looking for a convertible. Looks classy and appears to have good balance between performance and luxury.
As for the 5 series, performance is great, exterior is ... so so .... (can't get over the Bangle-retro look) BUT the interior is ... CHEAP. The I-drive is irritating (not as bad as the 7 series) but coupled with the CHEAP interior, I abandoned the 5 series.
Hope this helps your selection....
Good luck with your search.

yah i agree,, i own a 02' E39 - 525i and the interior is so much better than the new 04 5 series.. What the hell is BMW thinking making the interior so dam CHEAP.... DONT THEY HAVE EYES,,, I CAnt believe it,, Thats one big reason im leaning more towards the Benz,, Plus,, the looks of the car ,, the front end in horrible,, Yah guys,, I think the enz is gonna do it for me,, Just the weight of my 2002 525 tells everything, When u close my door you feel the weight and the quality of that door closing.. When u close the new 5 series door,, its light and cheap,, Reminds me of the new camry.. Sucks,, I think they were smokin some good stuff when they were designing this new 5'

clk vs bmw
Pos. for CLK- more stylish, beautiful ****pit, less common
Neg. for CLK- underpowered/320 only/,worse ride and driving fee
Neg. for 530- terrible cabin cheap!!!!!!!!!,body/matter of taste, but not as elegant as MB.
Pos.for 530-ride!!!!!!!!!,acceleration,space/but it si 4 door sedan/
I would go CLK-500 if you can.

Many congrats to you.
I generally don't care for 2 doors but this CLK is '...a piece of work..." --- design-wise
I must be going thru mid-life crisis
Have fun .... looking forward to your PICs
