Navigation Issues--WTH?
Hey allz,
So i went away on vacation end of 2014, came back a few days into 2015 and my ENTIRE history on my navigation was gone. Every address is gone, three years worth, which leads me to wonder if a valet took my car on a joy ride and tried to erase HIS history and blew it (i did not notice leaving the parking garage) or if MB did some sort of reset on new year which erased everything.
So I figure now is a good time to update that system. I find it clucky as hell even after three years, but I dont think I have any other options. I still love my car CLK 350 Convertible.(although it's been hit at least three times in the rear, one of which I believe has thrown my conv top out of whack --huge CLUCK on opening and closing) and I need a new paint job, and a full service in 1000 miles, so I'm in for big bucks anyway. Might as well bite it all at one time.
Anywhere to pop for less that 249 for a new nav dvd v12? or am i stuck wtih the dealer price?
Thanks and happy driving!

I lost all my history once. Never did know why. May have disconnected the battery. Anyway, I buy used NAV DVDs on ebay that are one version behind current. I just scored a 2014 for $65. Usually they are $100+. A new one is $250 b/c you can only get them from MB or Navteq who makes them. 2015 is the last year that will be made for our cars. I'm ok being a year behind because the new ones are out of date by the time they are pressed anyway.
That was what I figured. And I've had my battery out other times and not lost it. But poof, one day it was all gone. What I mostly lost was the all the saved places from the original owner. Not that I cared, but they sort of made me laugh. They take great pains to make sure you don't know who owned a car before, but there was his "home" in the NAV directory. The car was born at MB Manhattan, so the entries were like a parody of MB ownership - wineries, the tennis club where the US Open is played, stuff like that.
