Check spark plug wires

My car now has 202k miles with original spark plug wires. The spark plugs were changed twice before, at every 60-70K miles interval.

Before I change the plugs again, I have to decide on the wires. So far, the car is running fine but I am not sure if the wires are performing well.

I read that one easy way to check the wires is to remove the engine cover and spray the wires with water while the car is running. Is there any negative impact to do this? Anything I should watch out for?

Why don't you just replace them? I did at half your mileage. Spraying high voltage ignition components with water?

The spark plugs wires are $780CAN. I hope to save this money unless the wires are defective.

I did read somewhere to spray water to these wires in the dark. If there are sparks, the insulation of the wires are no good.

I know what you mean. New Zealand and Canada are similar in terms of outrageous oem prices. I got mine from ebay in the US. Very reasonable price for the M113 oem Bosch set even with international shipping and currency conversion.

This is one way you can check them. I suggest a light mist with a spray bottle though. dont just soak it with a hose or something.

You can also check them by testing the wires resistance.

Unfortunately, I do not have such device to measure wire resistance.

To apply the light mist, should I spray all along the wires?
