New CLK 500A PROBLEMS!

12/03 build date-500 miles bringing it in today

1)motor mounts-cant stand that noise...sounds like a diesel engine
2)pull to the right
3)After shifting from park to reverse, Loud metallic ticking sound when I tap on the gas. Same sound when I go from reverse back to drive. (like an old U joint sound from back in the day)
4)poor FM and AM radio reception.
5)poor midrange power.

$68,000 including tax NICE!

PLEASE let us know if the motor mounts are the cause of the engine ticking. I have a a mid-2003 build and the stealer says that can't be the problem.

How do you know if you have poor midrange performance? Also, my FM reception is not that great, so again let us know if you figure out the problem. Thanks.

aventura? to which dealer will you bring the car?

other than WPB -- i've heard good things about it, but haven't yet brought my car there -- there's not a dealer down here worth spit.

i'd be more optimistic if i thought they were only incompetent or lazy.

but i truly believe they are liars, cheaters and thieves.

if you can't get the matter resolved with relative speed, then try calling MB every day to politely ask them to keep you inmind.

as well, keep a log of the days your car is out of service due to the problems, so you can prepare for the "lemon" turmp card.

keep your ears open for the service manager's misnomer "customer satisfaction," (if they know that phrase down there) which is their way of saying you are unreasonable.

your matter is "technical or mechanical service," not some misperception of issues that are WNL, or "within normal limits."

sorry to sound cynical, but several months down there taught me a great deal.

all the best...

CLK 500
I have a 2003 CLK 500 and have experienced most if not all the problems decribed by users of the forum.

I live in Aventura, FL and take my car to Mercedes Benz of Miami. I will tell you right now that they are not great... but they will try to get your problems resolved...

I recently took my car for the motor mounts and took a copy of the TSB report posted in the forum. To my surprise they were aware of the problem and will be replacing the defective mounts.

I took my car, along with a copy of the TSB notice to the new Mercedes Benz of Pembroke Pines. Awesome initial impression. Made an appointment, little or no wait, just a beautiful new facility. SHHHH dont tell anyone. They promised the car back to me by Thursday. I'll let you know.

...And hey wannabeamg "get a f**kin life"! If I wanted a "Old Woman's TOYOTA Country Club Sled", I would've bought one. The Japanese should stick to making televisions.

Seems to me they're doing a damn good job at making cars as well.

The link didn't work, but I went through the search and it has a bulletin about engine ticking. It does not list a solution though so how do you know it's the motor mounts?

Sure, I'll park the MR2 next to my CLK. At least I'll still be an informed consumer. :p

TSB incomplete

the TSB mentioned here only addresses the motor mount. I have read in other posts that there is a programming fix for the power problem and something for poor radio reception.

Anyone know how to view/get those TSBs?

Problems

Heres the latest on my problems...I just heard back from MB of Pembroke Pines. They told me regarding the motor mounts-they WILL be replacing them. As far as the loud ticking sound when I change from park to drive that I described in my original post-they need to replace a "bushing Assembly". Software upgrade in regards to the poor midrange performance. And I imagine they'll let me know about the FM and AM radio reception when I pick it up tomorrow or Saturday morning. I'll keep everyone abreast. Until then............
