I can't stand the center console on our 05' CLK 320... it's useless because there is no place to place stuff. I enjoy the newer style with the center cup holder since I can put my phone in there...lol

Would something like this even work?

If not I guess oh well, but I just feel the newer style is much nicer looking and more functional than what we currently have on our car.

Yes, that will work, but you'll also need the wood (or metal) panel that sit around the shifter.
