engine shaking during idle

I replaced my engine and transmission mounts recently so they can't have went bad already but I'm getting a shake from the engine again when the car is a idle and I even felt my car slightly jolt forward when cruising any experience this before or have a idea whats going on?

Do you notice the RPMs varying when it shakes? If so, check to make sure the engine cover (air filter housing) is seated properly. If that's good, then check the intake ducts for cracks - mine were literally crumbling and the hot air from the engine bay was causing some poor performance.

Also are the mounts OEM? some mechanics install the motor mount upside down (yes, i've seen it). Or maybe the way they were installed was incorrect.

Yea the rpm varies and imma check after work is there a way I can tell that it's not seated properly ? It looked fine to me last night I got a check engine light this morning so hopefully it will tell me the problem

Interesting Check engine light! Rodney is most probably right with his suggestion. To make sure its seated correctly you could push it down from each corner and make sure there is no movement, or you could remove it and reinstall to make sure (remove the front intake ducts, they pop into place, and then pull the engine cover up and it will pop right up). I dont know how big the 550 engine is, maybe to be able to lift the engine and reach the motor mounts your mechanic removed plastic piece that connects the throttle body and the air filter housing (forgot its name) and installed it incorrectly (not sealed).

Yea that's what I'm saying and when I meant recent on the mounts they were done 4 months ago so I doubt it's the mounts ..imma double check though this vibration started yesterday

Aha system rich. Your car is putting too little oxygen/too much fuel in your bank 1 (either right or left bank of your engine, not sure). What could cause that is a couple of issues.

1. Fuel injector might by damaged.
2. Your Air filter Box is not correctly in place.
3. That plastic piece i told you about (MAF sensor) might need cleaning or is out of place.
4. A Break in your manifold, or manifold gasket.
5. Vacuum line break.

Maybe also a couple of issues. I'd look into finding a STAR diagnosis unit and doing more tests to pinpoint the issue. Also you could remove the air filter housing and use a bottle of water and drop water into where the intake manifold enters the cylinder housing from the top and look for any change in engine behavior(either turn off or shakes erratically). A general inspection of your vacuum lines will be easy when you have the air filter housing off.

Make sure the air pump intake hose is connected to the engine cover/air filter housing. Also, to check that the cover is seated properly, just run your fingers under the back lip of it where it sits on top of the MAF sensor to make sure there are no gaps.

The CLK500 does not have the air pump hose - only the CLK350/550 (m272/M2773 engines) have that.
