guys i get a whinning noise from the front part of the engine.. some times it disappear though

when it is though it increases with revs up to a certain level then as the engine is louder 4000rpm you cant hear it.

we changed the idler and its not
we tested the belt tensioner and its not
we checked the belt seems ok
we checked the power steering fluid and rotating wheel and its not.

i wonder from what it is

i removed the belt and started engine(for very short time) and the whinning is gone !!!

so it must be from on part of the belt system

any one familiar with this?

please help mechanic says we will leave it to develop and be able to discriminate its source clearly and replace part.

we also used one of those sound magnifier things lol but we couldnt detect it.

might it be the water pump?

or ac ?

Maybe alternator?

I saw on youtube that happening on some C class and can be fix by replacing alternator, you can go check it out.

I suspect the tensioner pulley. But get a mechanic's stethoscope and CAREFULLY listen to each pulley.

you cant actually distinguish it with stethoscope.. we did it several times all sound identical lol.

it still sounds whining but i dont give it any atention some times it does others not... i wait until sth fails to replace it.. if i proceed now is guessing game...

very annoying btw...

wd40 it lol ... whine still there. i suspect the a/c compressor :/
