Another strange question.
I just purchased a 2009 CLK 550 Convertible. The front brake calipers have two Star bolt heads that are rusted - and they show through the wheel openings. I tried to buy replacement bolts from my Mercedes dealer - not shown on any of their parts drawings. My parts guy took pictures and sent an inquiry to Mercedes about the bolts. His response from Mercedes is that the bolts are not sold separately - have to buy the caliper kit. He also advised that the "bolts" may not be removable - cosmetic only - ?? -"welded in"?? Since I am recovering from surgery, I can't yet pull the wheel to try to remove the "bolts". Does anyone know if these are real bolts that might be replaced or are they just cosmetic attached bolt heads - where my only option is to try to remove the rust and paint the bolt head???? Weird question, I know.

These are bolts that hold the caliper together and are not to be removed. The calipers are designed as a "sealed" unit. If the rust bothers you, I suggest cleaning them to remove the rust and then painting them. If you don't want a color, use a clearcoat (make sure it's high-temp).
