Center Console Removal?

Center Console Removal?
Hey Guys,
I have been viewing this site as a quest for a few weeks now and finally joined as of today. I would like to say that's it's a great forum with a wealth of knowledgeable information.
I have a blk/blk 99 CLK320 with 60K miles for about two years now and so far so good.
Here is my first problem:
My plastic dust cover (the one that moves) over the shifter cracked/broke today so I went to MB and bought a new one.
I was wondering if anyone has detail information on how to remove the shifter and console with the clips so I could replace it. Does the entire center console have to be lifted? From what I could tell it looks that way to me. I have the clip removal tool if that is needed, can anyone here please help me with pic's or instructions on the proper technique so I can replace it?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.
Jon

Hey Jon - You'd get more responses and better information on this by posting over in the W208 area. Most people in this W209 section have the newer style 2003+ CLK's, which have a different interior.
