2007 CLK350 Cabriolet
2007 CLK350 Random Alarm

Need advice. My 2007 CLK350 Cabriolet alarm started going off. No lights just the audio alarm intermittently. Nothing would make it stop. lock/unlock, key fob in ignition started and turned off, hard key in door and trunk locks. The only way I could get it to stop was to disconnect the battery which worked, but when I hook it back up is just picks up where it left off. It seems for other styles of MB this is often caused by a malfunction with the Vacuum pump/PSE.

Any thoughts, confirmations, other ideas on this? Can someone point me to where the Vacuum Pump is located? It seems that in some models is it in the aft-end trunk compartment and others it is under the hood. Couldn't find a parts break-out that showed it's location. Thought I could at least remove it and take it apart and see if there is any water in it. Door locks, etc all work fine.

Thanks in advance.

The ATA horn has a built-in battery and this is what happens when it dies. You'll need to replace the horn, but in the mean time, just unplug it. It's located behind the front right wheel. Remove the fender shroud to access it.

Siren removed. Looks like it has already been replaced once as the one in it is a Bosch and looks a bit different than the one I'm finding in the MB parts catalogs in the details. The alarm is still going off - blinking lights only of course. Found we can keep it from happening by keeping the key fob plugged into the dash. I'm assuming that removing the siren isn't going to stop the alarm as it still sees no voltage in the unit. Can't find any way to open the part up without destroying it, but it feels really light for something that has a battery in it. Can anyone confirm that there is indeed a battery and when it goes dead the alarm goes off before I spend $170 for a new part?

I am not sure about the battery part. My siren lasted 10 years before I replaced mine recently. I got mine at parts.com for about $162.00 (my dealer wanted $212.00) I first disconnected the wiring harness while waiting for the part to arrive (about 2 weeks) and everything worked as it should but no siren. See my thread "Alarm Problem".

If the alarm system is still triggering the hazard lights and such with the ATA horn removed. then it's not the problem.

So, are you saying that the moment you shut off the engine and remove the key from the EIS, and WITHOUT locking the doors via the SmartKey fob, you get an "alarm"?
