2004 CLK 500 Navigation System DX-Only
Dear MB World;
I have the CLK-500 Radio/Nav System. I bought a map for it, and it didn't work, I saw the message that it will except DX-Only.
I called MB, and the rep however nice, did not give me the confidence that the newer versions of the Map Series (2011, 2013) would work in my radio. I believe the new map series update (2013), is one disc, and includes all the software. I gave him my vin number and he assured me that the product codes would work in the CLK. I was told that in 2004, CLKs were made with two different Radio/Nav systems.
Question: Will the newer Disc versions work in the DX-Only Radio/Nav System found in the W209? if not, which map series should I buy?
I thank you in advance.

Hi there,
Sorry to hitch the thread, but what does DX mean? Reason being, i'm trying to retrofit nav in my Australian CLK, and I see many DX models online but i'm unsure if they will work.

To answer your question, not sure what DX means, but it is the older version of the Nav System. If you are retrofitting your CLK, get the newer version which is NOT DX. From what I have researched, newer versions are on DVD, so your system should be able to use the DVD, mine does not. hence the reason you need so many discs. There is also a program disc besides the map discs. MB has the part numbers. so write down the model number of your nav system, call them for the part numbers. not sure what year CLK you are trying to retrofit. but, go with the newer version of the Nav/radio system. 2004 models is where you run into my problem. 2003 and before had the DX versions, and 2005 and beyond had the newer version. Thanks for your email. Pascal

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply. I'm installing Comand into my 2004 CLK 240, so i think ill steer clear of the DX model!
