Need your input

I've decided that I need (want) an AMG vehicle.

I've narrowed it down to a few options:
1. Sell my CLK500 (and my modifications) and buy a 2005 CLK55 AMG or
2. Save up for a C63 AMG (preferably a coupe) alongside my CLK50 or
3. Sell my car and get an SLK55 AMG

What is your input on this? I'm a coupe person but I could try out a hardtop convertible (my friend drove an SLK55 and said it was the most fun he's had in a Benz). I really like my W209 CLK500, which is why I know I'd enjoy the extra 60 HP/30 TQ in the CLK55. The C63 is just an amazing car all around and I love that M156 engine.

All I know is that my next car would be an AMG! Thanks

i was in the same boat as you a while back. I purchased a clk350 and though it was fast i wanted more. I ended up taking the hit on the downpayment and gave the car to my sister since she liked it and it was enough power for her.

the CLK550 is an amazing car. LOVE IT!

Though i love the 05 CLK55 with the quad exhaust and the BBK i would not trade my clk550 for it... Stock vs stock the clk550 is faster, from my understanding the numbers are understated for the clk550.

with that said, if i was in your shoes i would not trade/sell my clk500 for the clk55, i would rather supercharge it and throw the LSD on it. one of the locals here has a clk550 with the Bilstein coilovers and he loves it. he says there is zero body roll in corners.. Im jealous!

I would get the C63 Loads of aftermarket options compared to our clk or slk.

as i mentioned several times I love my CLK550 and since i had it for sale, my heart drops every time someone contacts me for it.

I would love a clk63 BS one day... if any decent ones are left in the ned 4 or 5 years.

Best of luck and my vote goes towards keeping your clk500 or saving up for a c63.

Haha I would supercharge it if it wasn't so expensive! A Kleemann blower is ~$10K and I don't see it worth that much.

I haven't done any "power" mods to my car and am looking into getting C55 camshafts. Has anyone done that before? Will I pass smog check?

If only we could just buy them all! Lol I'm constantly browsing online for "my next" car all the time.. Been entertaining C63's and CLS550's a lot lately. There are just so many options out there.. I think if I copped a C63 today I'd start wondering what if's about the CLS tomorrow lmao. I pretty much decided to keep the clk500 for another 2-3 years and upgrade to something better then.

I honestly don't think an extra 60hp the clk55 offer will make an enthusiast like yourself satisfied. You'll notice the difference but I doubt you'll get the wow factor from it. Have you ever driven a clk55? If not, definitely try to get your hands on one and see if it's a significant upgrade from the 500. If you're sticking with the w209 body, I'd look into the 550. If you're into something that will look new for another 5-6 years I'd go with the C63. Ultimately, I'd save up and go for the c63 if possible

I think that I've made my decision: save up for the C63 AMG. I just test drove one and am addicted to that 6.2L engine! Although I'd like a 2012+ facelift, if the price is right, I'll get no older than a 2010 model. Thanks for the help guys.
