Neil,
seventeens are a bit small for the CLK - I can barely get away with the ones on mine, except that there is no rim to speak of so the spokes go right to the edge.
Chroming would be an option with a dark colour car, but on a silver car is probably wasted, although black chrome may be different.

Best bet is to ask soemone like prestige wheels what they can do, outside of bog std silver. Metallic Black is another option - wouldn't show the brake dust

8" S-Class wheels have ET44 offsets and standard 8" wheels on CLKs are Et32, that's a whole 12mm further in. So even if the inside doesn't rub, the S-class wheels will sit terribly behind the fender, handling will deteriorate and chances are, your ride will be more wobbly.....=> trade your stock wheels and S wheels for some 18" or 19"s that will fit and improve handling.

Neil, set of LM6 copies on ebay for £600, £900 with tyres

need to be careful with offset (ET) - ask whether they are the same a s the genuine articles (at least it will tell you how bothered the manufacturer was, or whether he's churning them out in a generic size o fit all cars)

cliffybabe, great choice . In general, 8.5" all round will fit but offset will be a key determinant in terms of appearance, handling and driveability (i.e. rubbing etc.

As for them being replicas, mmmmmm...........

Cliffy - are you sure you wouldnt prefer 19"'s ?

That place called Rtec in St Albans will do a complete set for £1260.

Matthew

They'll get scratched and kerbed wherever you are and however carefull you'll be.

I've 2 weeks before i get mine and 19's are a must.
