Is there a lighter version of the stock spare tire?

looking for some weight savings but want a spare. I saw this part number in the stickies: 2096100575. Is that a lighter spare that will fit my 2007 CLK 550?

Is spending any money worth the, maybe, 5 lbs. you may save?

You could look to put on run flat tires when you change tires again, or buy a couple cans of that inflation goo in a can along with a small light-weight air compressor that runs from the cigarette lighter. Then you could just remove the spare altogether.

If you use that tire inflation stuff, you should let the tech know when you get the tire repaired. I'm not sure but I think it also forms along the bead, where the tire and wheel come together.

I carry the OE spare. Have never had to use it. I'm not sure that I would change it onto the car anyway. Would probably call AAA and let them change it if they could not repair the flat.
