amg calipers vs stock

So my car has factory 4 pot in front and 2 pot in rear. Some AMG cars are the same set up. Are the AMG calipers any better than the none? Are the pistons larger? Trying to see if its worth purchasing the rear 2 pot calipers off a AMG SLK 55. They are just as ugly as mine but will they give any better stopping power?

Your "W209 CLK550" got 2-pot (300x22) rears, while "R171 SLK55" got 4-pot (330x26), indeed, stopping will be better..

I'm not sure that you would get any more stopping performance, since the rears are limited by a proportioning valve. It is the front brakes that really do the work. Unless you want to track your car, I don't see the need to upgrade your brakes. I'm sure the stock brakes on your CLK will work just great.

i do track the car sometimes. at this point i dont want to spend $3k on brakes. But would like something a little better. Thats why i asked if the AMG's had bigger pistons, or are the exactly the same jut different label. I can get the brakes off of a 08 slk55. it has 4/2 i can get them dirt cheap, but no sense if they are exactly the same

I think 2-piston calipers are probably the same. If the calipers are larger to hold a larger pad that could make a difference. Again, considering it's the rear brakes which are limited by a proportioning valve, I don't think you would notice a difference.

I'll check tomorrow to see if the pads are larger and decide
