Automatic Climate Control Code 581

Hi,

I have a 2009 CLK550 and am looking to replace the cabin filters. There are two types available for this model - one for vehicles equipped with ACC code 581 and I guess the other without. What is this? How do I know if my vehicle is equipped with it?

here is an example of a part that says with code 581.

It might be that one requires two filters and the other requires one? And the shapes might be a little different. But if there is an easy way to tell what this means, that'd be great!

Thanks in advance.

Kindly post your VIN number and we will tell you which AC system it has. I think one comes with a charcoal filter and one just a regular one.

Wow, that is AWESOME xsever!!! You saved me from having to guess. The dealer wanted a couple of hundred to replace the cabin filter and I've done it before (on another model) and knew I was getting ripped off. Thanks so much!

There are actually 3 "cabin filter".

One of them isn't a cabin filter its actually a Charcoal filter that needs to be changed out every 5 years and it only comes on cars with the 581 option. its located under the glove box.

The other 2 cabin filters replace each other. the more expensive filter has a bit of charcoal in it for cars without the 581 option. cars with a big charcoal filter (with the 581 option) dont need the more expensive cabin filter. in fact even cars without the 581 option dont really need the more expensive cabin filter, so its a choice. charcoal acts like a kind of odor and bacteria filter.
