For my 2004 CLK-320 coupe, the owner manual mentions that since the windshield washer is heated, there's no need to buy the washer with lower than 15C rating.

Now, does the car heat the windshield washer even the car is not started? Does this drain the battery?

I live in Toronto and frequently visit Montreal where temperature can reach down to -30C.
