Updating/upgrading Sirius Satellite radio unit

My factory installed Sirius Satellite radio is currently "working." When the buyout occurred in 2009 some issues arose with our vehicles, the most annoying being a frequent updating of the channels. Sirius acknowledged there are some issues with certain Mercedes models.

Also the installed radio cannot receive numerous stations, the limitation being that it is a First Generation radio.

QUESTION: Does anyone know if I replaced Sirius radio receiver with a later MBZ unit if it would work?

The current part number is 169 827 0162

The following part ( taken from Model Year 2012 2013 E Class, and 2011-2014 C Class A212 870 6489) looks to have the same connections as the one from the 2007 W209

Is this a plug and play upgrade?

Thanks
