They ordered most parts straight from the Singapore warehouse. They had a few individual parts already in the main warehouse in my country also. Maybe it is a MBUSA policy?
They said a bit of the work they would need to contract out like flushing the torque converter.
A lot of those transmission parts are available from sonnax and a few other suppliers. I can't imagine there is more than one factory making most of those parts despite OEM branding.

Oh, now I see you are in New Zealand. I guess your dealers are more "technically inclined" than ours. I don't think any dealers in the USA will crack open a transmission - they just swap them.

you should see the dealer in lebanon.. "they just swap engines"
