Wow, starters are expensive ...
Our first road trip in the CLK 550 is becoming a lesson in getting your car fixed in a hurry and not cheaply either. A new starter is around $1300 installed near Savannah, GA. The good news is it is getting done. Though I must say I have never heard of one costing that much before. Live and learn!

Well, you didn't say where you had it repaired or under what circumstances. Or labor vs. parts. Emergency repairs usually do cost more because you are at the mercy of whoever can or will do it. A Bosch starter is $130 on Parts Geek - I just looked for the heck of it. So my cost to replace my starter would be $130 or thereabouts. There's a wide range of reasonable prices between $130 and $1,300.

Yeah,its an emergency repair, so while expensive it is necessary. I'm just glad we have a warranty that will cover most of the expense. Honestly the dealership has been super helpful. It is Critz of Savannah, GA. They have shuttles to and from our hotel, that is a great service to us and all has costs with it, so I get the charge when you get concierge service, you know? Again, I'm just happy they are getting it done.

Usually concierge service is a percent of the total amount of the item like when you leave a tip at a restaurant . In this case the actual item is the tip. At least you had insurance to cover it . I am suprised they agreed to cover 1300 for a starter

You can get your starter rebuilt by a shop, just take the starter to them, starter rebuild kit is usually les than $20
