Oil Change
Hi guys,
Any idea how I perform this on a CLK240? is it any different to any other cars?
Am thinking of just changing the oil and filter at 10,000km even though the Service A is not due until 20,000km which I will take to car in for that stupid Stamp and reset of the computer.
Will be using Mobil 1 full sync.
Is there a guide line or some set of instructions on the forum including parts I need to get or tools required?
Basically I need to know where the sump plug is located to drain the oil and where the filter maybe located as well.
Thanks,
Ho

WOW never worked on a clk240 before. But your in sydney so that makes a lot of difference. V6 right?
I guess its just like the c240.
You'll need the tool to remove the oil filter.
And you should see the drain plug when you remove the farthest back under body panel.
Should take(now this is here is the US for a c240)7.9 qts or 7.5 lts.
Hope this helps

...Off topic, any idea what's the difference with E240, noticed it has a higher KW, 130kw compare to ours which is 125kw. Is it engine mapping?

You can also get the oil level up on the speedo display in litres by entering diagnostic mode. My reads 5.5litres when cold, ans with no message to add oil yet.
to enter diagnostic mode:-
ignition key in pos 1
change disply to outside temp
press reset button quickly three times
then scroll thru new menu 'til get one with data on instr no., software no. etc
at bottom of this is oil level - switch key to pos 2 to see level
Hope this helps - may be worth disconnecting the battery to avoid a low oil level warning on the diagnostics when you drop the old oil - you never know, there may be an issue later on in its with the engine, and MB won't need much of an excuse to turn you down on warranty

Do you know whether its a good idea to change oil at 10,000km or 20,000km as what Merc suggests?
Thanks.
