2008 CLK350 TPMS question
![](https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbworld.org-vbulletin/2000x1504/img_1004_f1c4ccff3e0e0b250ea775bc7964b4ba76925177.jpg)
I'm sure this has been discussed at length already. However I'm not having any luck finding my answer.
I have a 2008 CLK350 convertible.
I used to get a warning to check tire pressure intermittently. When I checked the pressure it was always right where it should be.
Eventually the pressure warning turned into Tyre Pressure Inoperative.
I assumed it was one or more bad TPMS sensors. I purchased four new TPMS sensors and had them installed with four new tires. It was my understanding these cars learn the new sensors after driving a bit.
1. I have driven the car over 3000 miles and it hasn't learned the new sensors, is it capable of doing this?
2. I have also read there is a way to do into the menu and "reset" the TPMS system. I have followed those instructions to a tee, there is no place on my cars menu that allows for a TPMS reset, Is there anyone out there with a 2008 Carbriolet that can tell me the exact step by step to get to this magical reset?
3. I have also heard there is a service bulletin for this car that deals with this issue. I involves replacing the TPMS receiver or antenna? Can any elaborate on this bulletin?
Thanks in advance for any useful help you can provide me.

On my '07, you just go from the speedo display page, ^ to the TPMS page, then hold the + button for a couple seconds, and then the system is reset. Iirc.

According to the owners manual that should work I agree. When I try that I get a message that says Tyer Pressure Monitor Inoperative. I won't let me reset anything. I added a picture of the error message I get to the original post.

Hmm I do not know.
Can I ask however... How is it that you have a black cluster in your 2008, like that which I had in my '05? In my newer CLK my cluster is matte silver, and I have white dials.

The majority of cars have black dials. Depending on interior trim you can also have white.
Not sure about your issue. The car does not learn the sensors. The sensors are "dumb" as what the tire pressure actually is. They just tell you when the pressure drops a certain amount from whatever you tell them is normal. When you reset the system, normal will be whatever is in the tires at the moment. Do you have TPMS turned off?

actually there are 2 systems. one is a flat tire monitor (basically just using the ABS sensors to tell which tire is under-inflated) the other is a true TPMS with sensors in each wheel well/wheel. Good advice on TPMS is always use STAR. There is really no other way to diagnose TPMS without STAR. I personally have no idea where they are is I had the flat tire monitor in my car and not TPMS. But even if you were to find the sensors/antennas there is nothing to see. also bumanng i'm pretty sure you have TPMS and not FTM(flat tire monitor) because you wouldn't be getting TPMS Inoperative on an ABS system or else you'd be getting other ABS related errors.

Oh also. exactly where did you buy your TPMS? Mercedes are sensitive to these types of things, there are no universal TPMS that i know off that are compatible with the Merc's system.

I did find the problem finally that was causing the TPMS system to be inoperative. It was a 7.5 amp fuse, number 15, in the rear-trunk fuse panel. It is the second fuse from the bottom of the panel. Makes no sense since I thought this was for the fuel door lock.
