Road Angel is a good system, but like all speed camera/trap detectors is not infallible - it will not detect the Specs system which photographs you over long distances on the motorway and calcs average speed. Its also quite a big unit, and is very noticebale if a police car is alongside you on motorway for instance.

You can use it with SatNav software on a palmtop though, saving buying another GPD antenna.

I bought an American radar detector whilst on holiday in Tenerife for £50 - IT has all the frequency bands (X,K,Ka etc) and laser detection (L,S etc)

Same features as £300+ units in the UK, so you can have a week in the sun with the savings on the detector (just about !)

funny how someone ask this question

I was going to post a question on Radar Detectors myself to see if anybody knows a good steath one since its illegal in Sydney
Did some research on google and it doesn't look good most reviews says it's all detectable.

Any experience from the here?

Thanks,
Ho

Probably. Unless you need the GPS signal for SatNav package then probably not worth the money

The Road Angel database does get updated, but the data is only as accurate as the last person to tell Road Angel themselves. If no-one informs them of new traps, or you're the first there then you're still nicked !!

There have been stories of remote garage door openers scrambling the signal from handheld gatso/radar guns, but the error code displayed on the gun is now known to the police. If they get repeated error messages then you'll be pulled all the same. You can only get away with this is you manage to turn the scrambler off between the first attempt to get your speed and the second. Since you'll also need to brake during this time its unlikely to work !
