Headlight cover

Anybody remove the plastic headlight cover? I got hit by a rock or something which broke the headlight cover. I don't know whether I should try to replace it myself or let Mercedes do it. Wondering how involved it is. Luckily the headlight itself didn't break as I understand those xenon bulbs are about $800

Turns out you don't replace the plastic cover - you have to replace the whole unit ($865 + tax + 2.5 hours labor) ouch - damm rock.

That sucks...can't you claim it under your insurance? Too bad they won't cover it under the warranty.

Called insurance (Allstate) covered under comprehensive, $100 deductable and claims under comp don't raise your rates. Didn't think about calling (wife suggested it) as I thought I had $1000 deductable but that is on collision.
