Has anyone replaced the W209 headlight harnesses

I have a 2007 CLK350 and upon changing a low beam bulb discovered that I have the typical problem with cracking and broken insulation on the wires. (I suspect that this happens when you use brighter or longlife H7 bulbs which draw more current and "cook" the poor insulation). In any case, I got some aftermarket replacement harnesses and, presuming the insulation is better, they look good. My question has to do with the leads to the turn signal. Everything else looks straightforward, but it appears there are some special connectors for the turn signal "push and turn" socket and I can't see how you would get to them. There are no directions and I haven't taken the headlights out yet. Has anyone done this repair who can explain what's involved?

I'm going to bump this (2 years later) because I'm wondering the same thing.

I wanted to install resistors for an LED turn signal bulb (for Canbus error and remove hyperflash) and I can't find the wiring for it anywhere. It's just push and turn into a socket.

Any ideas?

The wiring is built into the headlight unit. The push-and-turn socket has metal ears on it that mate with the contacts in the headlight housing.

Oh I see. So is there a way to wire in a load resistor to prevent hyperflashing LED's? Or would I have to get LED's with resisters built in?

I would use a bulb with a built-in resistor. But I think you are not going to be happy with these. I tried LED turn signal bulbs and while you can see the signal flashing when you look at the headlight, like most aftermarket LED bulbs, they really don't project much light.
